ANAC LEADERS CALLS FOR MORE REVIEW OF "THE MANIFESTO"
As the Nigerian government releases Diaspora report.

Leaders of the All Nigerian American congress (ANAC) met over the weekend in the United States to discuss the step forward on the prepared manifesto by a group formed from within ANAC and other leaders within the regional Nigerian groups in the International communities, consisting of the Zumunta the diaspora organization that represents the North east, North west and North central regions of Nigeria in the international communities, the Omo Egbe Yoruba that represents the South western region, the World Igbo Congress that represents the five eastern states of Nigeria and the South South Niger Delta Consortium which represents all the six south south regions states of Nigeria in the international community. The document which is titled "The Manifesto, a road map to Nigerian Development" is a fifty more pages of practical solution and steps to revitalize the social economic fabric of the Nigerian society and push forward toward full na! tional economic advancement. The documents takes the view that the solutions are primarily moral social with economic strains and then subsequently political. Speaking at the session the leadership group which consisted mainly of the upper house delegates and chairmen of the different state chapters affirmed the document and praised the principal authors of the document. This was a well thought true and clearly articulated document. The principal authors of the document are Dshaik Izuchukwu, Chairman of the California chapter, Bright Aregs the Vice President of the House of Delegates, Akeem Bello the Chairman of the North Carolina State Chapter, and the Virginia State trustee and current Chairman of the Upper house Dan E. Austin M.D. The leadership group voted with little opposition to make the document more available to the Nigerian International community and the entire peoples of Nigeria. ANAC will be sending this document out to all Nigerians groups! in the international community and largely to the Nigerian press.

In the mean time the Federal government has released a report dictating how the Nigerian diaspora should assist the Nigerian development. This Diaspora report is a twenty page document which spells out multiple levels and steps the Nigerian diaspora can take to assist the Nigerian government. The ANAC leadership group welcome the release of the document by the Federal government of Nigeria, especially how it coincided with the debate of the Manifesto. Speaking at the leadership meet, the Chairman Dan E. Austin of Virginia, emphasized the timing of the Nigerian government report and noted the fact that the issues responded to in the report are already being done by the Nigerian international community and there is nothing new in the report. It is already true that Nigerian International community sends about 5-10 billion US dollars annually to support the Nigerian economy, we are already doing all that and more. The goal now is to find a away to move our homeland a! way from dependency on the hard and sometimes degrading labor of its citizens in other nations. We need to create a land of opportunity in Nigeria, we have the capabilities, the potentials and we should move the country to the next level. Is either we continue "the hassle" to borrow the hip hop term in other nations to support Nigeria or we assist to move Nigeria herself forward into the league of the economically prosperous countries of the world. The manifesto calls for bold innovative ideas to assist the entire peoples of Nigeria world wide and in Nigeria to focus on the social moral steps as a preliminary initiative, by converting a Critical mass and then proceed on the economic and other solutions that are suggested in the road map.

It will take a serious dialog and will to implement; right now its indeed the only comprehensive serious proposition I have seen out there that has taken a completely constructive and yet none damaging look at steps to move our slumping nation forward in a direction, commented Dr. Martin Okafor of Georgia. Dr. Okafor is a professor of Engineering technology at a Georgia State University in Atlanta, a founding member of Nigeria Diaspora organization (NIDO). Commenting on the document, the Chairman of ANAC Illinois Dr. Abdulateef Kareem affirmed that the ANAC illinois under his leadership is moving forward on getting the support of the different Nigerian regional groups in Chicago to understand the great step forward this document could bring to the entire Nigeria society. We spend so much money supporting the Nigerian economy and yet there is no comprehensive hope forward for our people, this provides an avenue to really commence a comprehensive soci! al economic grass root movement in Nigeria, that will in time revamp the backwardness in our homeland. The meeting was moderated by Grace Clarke the newly elected Vice Chairman of the ANAC Georgia chapter, the group commended her job well done, as the group does a rotation of moderation and it was the turn of the Illinois state to moderate but the Chairman of Illinois was on the road and could not moderate the event and requested that the vice chair from Georgia assist Illinois for this session.

The House of Delegates President Ms Temitope Ajayi has been somewhat slow in embracing the full extent of the manifesto, pointing that its implementation should first focus on ANAC membership in the United States before the New Nigeria arm that is called for in the document, which is to advance into Nigeria for implementation of the social development program. Many in the leadership echoes her concern as the implementation of the program will very much require political will or huge financial support if it will achieve its desired aim. George Mbagwu of Maryland, Paul Oranika of Georgia, Colin Atobajeun of Texas though praised the work of the ANAC group and called it a great step forward for Nigeria if it can be implemented, all expressed concerns on the great task of its implementation. At the end the group called for further review by all the State Chapters, entire houses of delegates and making the manifesto available to the entire Nigerian communities for review! and debate both in the international community and in Nigeria, before a full debate and vote will be scheduled at a joint session of the Upper house and state chapter delegates session. The group also called for further review of the FGN report on diaspora to see if ANAC could make more specific response to that document as it prepares to vote and move forward on the Manifesto.
